Ann Arbor Institute of Massage Therapy


Ann Arbor Institute of Massage Therapy (AAIMT) is accredited by COMTA (the Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation). AAIMT is also a member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA). AAIMT is a Title IV school, and so the students can apply for Pell Grants, Sallie Mae Career Loans, the Michigan Merit Scholarship, Stafford Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans, etc. The institute is also affiliated with Siena Heights University and Washtenaw Community College.

The campus offers various facilities like spacious high-tech classroom, modern A/V equipment, professional massage tables, anatomical wall charts, life-size skeletons, Anatomy (Maniken) Lab and library. The instructors are highly trained and support students with personal attention. The classes usually have a maximum of 12 students.

Ann Arbor Institute of Massage Therapy also offers other facilities like parking area, retail store with coffee/tea bar, student lounge, patio with picnic tables, restrooms and student clinic area. The students are also offered job placement services.

Course Details:

Ann Arbor Institute of Massage Therapy offers a 750 clock hour courses accredited by the COMTA and 50 online hours. The course is of 12 months duration. The students will have to study the following topics:

  • Anatomy & Physiology (98.5 Hours)
  • Therapeutic Massage & Related Approaches (66 Hours) - Semester I & II
  • Seated Massage
  • Medical Terminology
  • Reflexology
  • Introduction to Shiatsu: Technique and Theory
  • Introduction to Thai Massage
  • Refinement

    Admission Procedures:

    The admission policy in Ann Arbor Institute of Massage Therapy has two start times annually, one in February and the other in September. The students are offered morning and evening classes. The students can download the application and complete the questions. They will have to submit the references and the essay. The students will have to appear for interview. The students can also apply for financial aids in Ann Arbor Institute of Massage Therapy.

    Accommodation facilities:

    Ann Arbor Institute of Massage Therapy does not offer any on campus housing facility. The students will find several housing options near the campus.
