Atlantic Technical Center was established in 1973. Atlantic Technical Center is accredited by Commission of the Council on Occupational Education. Atlantic Technical Center is approved by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The institution has more than 5,000 students. The campus has more than twenty buildings and portables. The institution offers more than forty certificates and Applied technology diploma programs. The students are offered financial aids. They need to complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid either online or by mailing the application.
The programs are offered in eight occupational areas, automotive technology, building trades, business trades, business/computer technology, cosmetology, culinary arts, health sciences, metal fabrication technology, industrial technical education. There are other cooperative training opportunities in many programs for the students. The college also offers Adult Basic Education program which is designed to develop literacy skills necessary for successful employment and citizenship. The content of the program develops basic literacy in all areas of knowledge, including reading, language and mathematics. This program prepares the student for GED preparation courses.
The students opting for technical programs have to attend orientation either online or on site. They will have to take a basic skills test which has been made mandatory by the State of Florida. This basic skills test ensures that the student has the basic skills like reading, mathematics and language. In the next step of the admission process, the students will have an interview with the counselor where they will decide upon test results, program placement, special needs, and financial aid and registration procedures. It is mandatory that the students have to complete their secondary school education.
The college does not offer campus housing to the students. However, there are ample housing facilities for the students. There are affordable apartments that the students can rent. Living near the campus will save the trouble of commuting everyday; also group study improves the performance of the students. The students become more responsible and these experiences help them to develop their personality.
