Beacon College


Beacon College, established in 1989 is one of the pioneers in providing education support services for students with learning disabilities. Beacon College is situated in Leesburg, Florida which is about 50 miles northeast of Orlando. The number of students is about 120 who come from about 30 states. The average class size of the college is 10 students. The student teacher ratio is 8 to 1. The college has students' organizations like Students Newspaper, Performance Club, Poets and Writer Club, Theater Club, Yearbook, Student government, etc. The student services offers a variety of services like community service, student development and counseling, life coaching, health and wellness, activities, clubs and organizations The students get to participate in Co curricular activities which also help in their overall development of their personality, their leadership skills and life management. Residential living also plays a significant part of the college life. The students get to discover themselves in different situations.

Course Details:

Beacon College offers majors in Computer Information Systems, Liberal Studies and Human Services. The college also offers educational support services which include the Learning Specialists Program, the writing center, supplemental instructions and special accommodations. The college also offers Travel Abroad And Cultural Studies program.

Admission Procedure:

Beacon College offers associate and baccalaureate degrees particularly for the students with language based learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, or LD gifted. The college offers nationally recognized teaching techniques, so that the students can achieve their educational goal. Beacon serves students with the following problems,

  • Dyslexia
  • Auditory and visual Processing difference
  • Expressive/ receptive language deficits etc

    Accommodation facilities:

    The college offers on campus residential housing at the Beacon College Village apartments. The students enjoy excellent residential life. At the apartment complex the students are supported by residential assistants (RA s). The RAs are trained professionals who provide guidance, support and supervision to the students. The apartments have all the different types of facilities like kitchen, laundry, basic TV cable connections, Wireless Internet etc. The complex is walking distance from the college campus hence the students will not have to travel. Recreational facilities include swimming pool, tennis, volleyball, and basketball court and gazebo area.
