Bethune Cookman College


Bethune Cookman College was established in 1904. The campus is located in Daytona Beach, Florida. It is a historically black college affiliated with the United Methodist Church. The college offers baccalaureate and master's degrees. Bethune Cookman College is a small private coeducational and residential institution. The college achieved university status in 2007 with the launch of masters degree. The college is one of the three private historically black colleges in state of Florida and the college boasts of international faculty and more than 3600 students. The college is accredited by Southern Association of Colleges, National League of nursing, and National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, Accreditation Commission For Programs in Hospitality Administration. The college offers different services to the students like bookstore, health center, career services, mail services etc.

Course Details:

The college offers the academic programs in seven divisions. Retention programs provide students the support to make the transition to college life. Such programs are the Student Support Services program, Challenger institute, Renewing Ethical values program and the teacher education Institute. Bethune Cookman College offers degrees in the following seven schools:

  • School of Arts & Humanities
  • School of Business
  • School of education
  • School of nursing
  • School of social sciences
  • School of science, Engineering and Mathematics
  • School of Graduate & professional Studies

    The college offers degrees in 37 majors and maintains intercollegiate athletic programs and instrumental and Choral groups.

    Admission Procedures:

    The undergraduate students have to complete an accredited high school curriculum with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.25 or better on a 4.0 scale. The students will have to submit a completed application for admission, including one page essay on one of the four given topics. A non refundable fee of $25 has to be paid by the students. The students will also need to attach the counselor's recommendation form along with the application.

    Accommodation facilities:

    The college offers on campus housing. The freshmen are required to reside in the campus housing. The school also offers a meal plan with 21 meals per week.
