Bryan College of Court Reporting


Spread over two campuses in Sacramento and Los Angeles, Bryan College of Court Reporting offers training in shorthand and other reporting techniques. Students attending coursework at this college find employment in a variety of reporting requirements in the courtroom as well as out side it. The college was set up by a stenographer in 1940 and has been able to guide students to excel in a variety of reporting professions. The faculty includes reporters and educators with prior experience in their jobs. The college is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools and is recognized by the Court Reporters Board of California. It has a license from the State of California to provide courses of this nature.

Course Details:

The college offers courses in shorthand for a variety of settings. Some of them are:

  • Real time Reporting
  • Hearing Reporting
  • Real Time Captioning
  • Convention Reporting
  • Court and Deposition Reporting

    Coursework preparing students from other fields where reporting is required ( e.g. on the web) are also present. On completion of coursework , students may sit for the State License Examination. On successfully clearing this examination, employment is easy. Courses are also available online. Courses are of the following types:

  • Speed Building
  • Stenography classes
  • Computer Aided Transcription
  • Practical Training

    Admission Procedures:

    Admission to Bryan College is open to students who have at least a high school diploma. Students are required to sit for an entrance test after meeting the admissions personnel on any of its two campuses. The completed application form has to be procured from the college and a $25 registration fee needs to be paid. A financial plan needs to be drawn up before starting coursework.

    Accommodation Facilities:

    This is a for-profit institution with limited resources and educational goals. There are no accommodation facilities provided by the college. Students find accommodation easily near the two campuses since both Los Angeles and Sacramento are busy areas.
