Gateway Community College


Gateway Community College has played an active role in the higher education in the greater New Haven. It is one of the top community colleges in New Haven. Gateway Community College is presently situated in two campuses. One is in Long Wharf and New Haven. The courses are offered at convenient time. It offers full time and part time study programs. On Saturday classes are conducted in mornings. Gateway Community College ranks as the finest educators in Connecticut. It offers wide ranging continuing education facility. It is accredited by the Board of Governors for Higher Education in Connecticut and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. The college is centrally located amidst the thriving city, opening up various opportunities within the campus. Gateway has 11,000 students a year. It was established in the year 1992. The merger of South Central Community College and the Greater New Haven State Technical College in New Haven saw the establishment of the Gateway Community College.

Course Details:

Gateway Community College offers more than 80 academic programs. They are degree and certificate programs. There are associated degrees also which helps the students to transfer to a four year college or University. Some of the programs offered at Gateway Community College are:

    Admission Procedures:

    Students can apply for admission at Gateway Community College through the available online forms. An application fee of $20 in the form of check or money order has to be sent to the Admissions Office. Students can apply for financial aid if they want. They need to provide past academic records along with immunization records. Prospective students will have to take placement test at a later stage of the admission procedure.     Accommodation Facilities:

    Students will have to look for off-campus housing near Gateway campus as Gateway does not provide on-campus accommodation. Students with disabilities might get special accommodation on request, but that has to be confirmed from the College authorities. There are lodges, apartments and hostels near the campus where the students can stay.
