Highland Community College


Highland Community College is a coeducational community college, founded in 1962. . Highland Community College is recognized by Illinois Community College Board. The college is located in the northwest Illinois. Highland Community College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is also a member of the North Central Association. The college is also a member of the Academic Quality Improvement Program. Highland Community College has its main campus in Freeport. The main campus has seven main buildings in the campus. The college has student strength of about 4,000 students each semester. The college has 190 dedicated faculties. The students are offered several services like all the college students will have free access to the YMCA right on campus. There are several clubs and organizations. The college has an excellent library. The students are also offered online services and athletic services like baseball, basketball, golf, softball and volleyball.

Course Details:

Highland Community College offers courses awarding associate degree in Science and Arts. The college offers more than 60 majors. The college offers programs in the following areas,

    Admission Procedures:

    Highland Community College does not charge any application fee for admission. The students can apply online or they can download an application form and mail it or submit it personally at the college. They can request for an application form by calling the college. The students can also apply for financial aids. They will have to fill the Federal Application for Student Financial Aid form. The graduate students will have to submit their high school transcripts or GED certification. The ACT score is not mandatory however ACT scores help to decide the best suited subjects for the students. The students will have to take a placement test. The students will have to see the college advisor and register for the classes.

    Accommodation facilities:

    Highland Community College is a commuter college and does not offer on campus housing facilities. The students will have to arrange their accommodation. They will find several off campus housing facilities.
