Located in Maryland, Hood College is a co-educational Institute of liberal arts. The Hood College boasts a total of approximately 936 Graduate students and about 1,185 Undergraduate students. Inaugurated in the year 1893, the Hood College was founded as the Woman's College of Frederick by the Potomac Synod of the Reformed Church of the United States. Again in the year 1897, the Hood College received a 28-acre tract of land for its campus from Margaret Scholl Hood. The Board of Trustees voted to change the name of the college to Hood College in 1912 while recognizing the above mentioned incident. When it was inaugurated, the College was only a women's college and did not admit men until 1971 as computer students. In 2003, the men students began to be admitted on a residential basis, making the college co-educational.
The College offers a total of 27 majors, 23 concentrations and 43 minors approximately. Again, the College offers the majors that lead to the bachelor's degree. Hood College enrollment can be done online. The College asks the students to submit their application within a fixed deadline with the payment of an application fee that is non refundable. Again the students can also download the printed version of the application form and submit it after successfully filling it. Along with the application form, the College also asks the students to send the School report and Secondary School Counselor Evaluation. Hood College accommodation is primarily on the campus so that the students do not have to look for off campus housings. The College houses about 700 out of a total of 2000 full time students approximately.
