Lyme Academy Of Fine Arts

Introduction:

Lyme Academy Of Fine Arts was established in the year 1976 by Elisabeth Gordon Chandler. It is an academy where sculpture, painting, figure drawing and painting are taught. It is situated in Old Lyme, Connecticut. The college is committed to give quality education on fine arts. It is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. It is an independent art college belonging to Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design and the Connecticut Conference of the Independent Colleges. Lyme focuses on history and tradition of representational art. Small class sizes helps to make the education on a personalized level. It has a student enrollment of 200. The Lyme Academy is situated in a convenient location as it is close to New York and Boston, and the major visual arts collection which is held in Connecticut. The College follows a distinct focus on fine arts and hence it is one of the unique art colleges in the country.

Course Details:

Lyme Academy of Fine Arts provides Post Baccalaureate, BFA, and Certificate Programs. It offers continuing educational facilities. The programs are designed for degree seeking students as well as non-degree and transfer students. Saturday evening classes, summer workshops and Pre-college classes and special five week programs are available for various groups with varied interests. The Academy invites students who are fully involved in Art and is a passionate lover of Art. The majors offered at Lyme Academy of Fine Arts are:

  • Drawing

    Admission Procedures:

    Applicants need to submit the online forms, along with portfolio of 6-20 works. The form should include an appropriate statement of artistic and educational purpose. This process will be followed by an on campus interview. The admission reviews will be done on a rolling basis. Candidates can fund their education if they want by applying for Federal Stafford student loan. An application fee of $55 is to be sent along with the form. Official SAT/ACT scores are important documents which need to be sent along with the admission form. Other documents that need to be sent when the candidate is applying at Lyme Academy of Fine Arts are:

  • 2 letters of recommendation
  • Essay ( expressing your dedication to art)

    Accommodation Facilities:

    On-campus housing is not available at Lyme. But Lyme offers assistance in finding off-campus housing near Lyme. There are various accommodations near the campus, so a student will not face any problem regarding housing.
