Montserrat College of Art

Introduction:

Montserrat College of Art was founded by a group of artists in the late sixties who wanted to turn visual art into professional education. Studio environment, focus on art, understanding the needs of the student and expanding teaching facilities are the main aspects of the atmosphere at this art college. Montserrat College of Art is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design; and by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. The Montserrat often arranges for field trips in places like Boston, New York, in museums, art galleries to enrich the educational experience. The diverse student community also has access to various student clubs that organize programs throughout the year. The institute also provides part time on campus placement to students. As a four year residential college the institute was earlier known as Montserrat School of Visual Arts. The intensive training provided to the students in the college helps them to be gainfully employed the field of art in the long run. Technical skills, perceptual ability and intellectual sensitivity are the areas that the art college aims to develop in its learners.

    Admission Procedures:

    To seek admission at the Montserrat College of Art students have to submit the application form along with an application fee. Official educational transcripts SAT or ACT scores, personal portfolio with at least twelve samples, two recommendation letters, a statement of purpose are needed to apply for admission at the college. For international students TOEFL scores will be necessary.

    Accommodation facilities:

    The Montserrat College of Art provides housing facility to the students. On campus accommodation option is in the form of apartment style living. The shared apartments have utilities provided by the college and is supervised by the residence staff.
