Northwestern Connecticut Community College


Northwestern Connecticut Community College was established in 1965. The college campus is situated in the rural town Winsted, Connecticut. Northwestern Connecticut Community College is accredited by the Connecticut Board of Governors for Higher Education and by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. Northwestern Connecticut Community College is the second smallest of the twelve college of the Connecticut Community College system. Northwestern Connecticut Community College operates in two semesters (Fall and Spring). Northwestern Connecticut Community College has about 1600 full time and part time students. The library in the Learning Resource center has 41000 volumes and subscribes to 180 periodicals along with various audiovisual materials. The Arts and Science Center is comprised of Chemistry, Microbiology, Biology, Physics, and General Science Laboratories on the first floor and classrooms and Lecture halls on the second floor. The third floor houses art spaces for drawing, painting, ceramics and graphic arts. The college has several communities and clubs.

Course Details:

Northwestern Connecticut Community College offers both credit and non credit certificates and also grants the Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees. Northwestern Connecticut Community College offers the state's only Veterinary Technology Program and also runs an American Sign Language and the Deaf Studies Program. There is also a Collegiate Education for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Persons (CEDHH) program.

Admission Procedures:

Northwestern Connecticut Community College follows open admission policy. The student can apply online and then email or fax the application. The students will have to pay $20 fee. The students in non degree status are not eligible for financial aid. The students will have to arrange to take placement tests and they will have to submit SAT scores as well.

Accommodation facilities:

Northwestern Connecticut Community College does not offer any housing facilities. The student will have to arrange their accommodation. There are several options like apartments, rentals etc. The students are advised to check before they rent an accommodation. They can opt for sharing apartments with the friends. This will help them develop their personalities.
