Polk Community College

Introduction:

Polk Community College is situated in the Polk County, Florida. It was founded in the year 1964. It is a community college which was originally called as Polk Junior College. The main campus is in Winter Haven. The second campus is located in Lakeland. The student enrolment of credit and non-credit students is 10,000. There are 100 faculty members. Polk Community College has various facilities like library, and computer labs, with auditoriums where films and videos are featured. The college is among the most reputed colleges of Florida it provides excellent quality education. Since the inception of the college, more than 26,000 degrees have been awarded. Polk provides education which provides training and skills to students who will gain the best knowledge and create success stories as they move ahead in their career.

  • Admission Procedures:

    Polk Community College observes an open admissions policy. Any GED certificate holder will be able to apply and get through the institution. Students can apply through the forms available online. A non-refundable application fee of $20 is to be submitted. Students can apply for financial aid. A college placement test has to be taken by the student if the applicant possesses SAT/ACT scores or college level work in Math or English might exempt this test. Students are advised to see an academic advisor who would guide him/her for further procedures for admission in Polk.

    Accommodation Facilities:

    Students are advised to look for off-campus housing near Polk as there is no provision for on-campus housing. There are hotels, motels, lodges and apartments where the students can stay. Living off-campus is quite a delightful experience which students should try.
