Florida International University

Introduction:

Florida International University also popularly known as FIU is a public research university founded in 1965. It situated in Miami, Florida. The main campus of FIU is in University Park. It is the youngest university which has been awarded a Phi Beta Kappa chapter. The University has 23 colleges under it. It is the fourth largest University in terms of student enrolment. FIU had begun as a two-year upper division university but now is a full time university serving students from all across the globe. Today the University houses more than 38,000 students and more than 1,000 full time faculty members. The faculty members are highly qualified and hence the students receive excellent quality education from these expert professors. Research is an essential part of FIU and there are many grants provided for these research works.



Course Details:

FIU provides 199 academic programs, 89 master's programs, 30 doctoral programs, 76 baccalaureate programs, 3 specialist programs, and 1 professional program approximately which are taught from the schools and colleges. Each specialized program is taught at one of the School and College. Some of the programs that are taught at FIU colleges and schools are:

  • Admission Procedures:

    FIU admissions requirement includes solid academic background as well as good test scores. Graduation from an accredited institution will be accepted. SAT/ACT scores are to be sent along with the admissions form. For further information on this subject candidates are to contact the university at: www.collegeboard.org or call (866) 756-7346, and www.act.org or call (319) 337-1313. High school transcripts are to be sent along with the admissions form. Online application forms are available through which candidates can apply. International applicants are to submit TOEFL scores, Passport and Visa details.

    Accommodation Facilities:

    On-campus accommodation is provided at FIU. The living, learning experience becomes a unique one as students live on-campus and interact with students from various walks of life. The environment provides support for personal and academic growth and development. Forms for Housing can be downloaded from the Internet. For further information on Housing and Residence Life at FIU candidates should contact FIU at: Tel: 305-348-4190, or at Housing@fiu.edu. Students can live at off-campus housing also. But generally students prefer to live on-campus, as they can avail all the facilities and amenities offered at the FIU University campus.
