Northern Illinois University


The history of Northern Illinois University dates back to 1895. Nestled in DeKalb, Illinois, this public university was established by Illinois Governor John P. Altgeld. This is the 2nd largest university in the state and presently serves more than 25,000 students. Northern Illinois University is affiliated with the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges. Other than the main campus, Northern Illinois University or NIU maintains satellite centers in Rockford, Oregon, Hoffman Estates and Naperville. The university is comprised of seven degree-granting colleges where some 54 undergraduate and 74 graduate programs and 12 doctoral programs are offered to the students. Students are also offered online courses to the learners. Due to its excellent location, electrifying campus life, vibrant career preparation, Northern Illinois University is considered to be one of the most coveted higher learning schools in the U.S.

    Admission Procedures

    Whether you are about to complete your high school or planning to pursue post-baccalaureate education, Northern Illinois University is the ideal higher learning institution for you. NIU does not follow open admission policy and thus all the applicants don't get chance to study here. Transfer students are also not ignored.

    Northern Illinois University offers campus housing facilities to its students. But it is enough to accommodate all the students.
