University of Delaware is the largest university in Delaware. The main campus is situated in Newark. It has satellite campuses in Dover, Wilmington, Lewes, and Georgetown. It has approximately 20,000 students. It is a land, sea, space, grants University. It is a privately chartered institution. It is the 71st best national universities. In 1743 the school was founded from which the university has emerged. The University has seven colleges operating under it. In 1921 by an Act of State Assembly it merged with the Delaware Women's College to create the University of Delaware. The University has a tradition of excellence.
