University of Massachusetts - Boston

Introduction:

University of Massachusetts is comprised of five campuses and the city of Boston homes one of them. This coeducational public research university is also known as UMass Boston and is set on Columbia Point. The campus of UMass Boston winds through some 177 acres of total area and accommodates more than 14,000 students. Established in 1852 as Boston State College, this prestigious Massachusetts higher learning institution was given university status in 1964 and renamed UMass Boston. In the city of Boston and its adjacent areas, University of Massachusetts - Boston is the only public university. As the university is strategically located, it is easily accessible from all part of the nation. The University of Massachusetts Boston is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. With a focus in the fields of therapy and counseling and liberal arts, UMass Boston offers plenty of courses to the prospective students. For the enthusiast students, online courses are also available. UMass Boston accommodates its students in eight academic divisions such as, College of Science and Mathematics, Graduate College of Education, College of Management, the John W.     Admission Procedures:

    For admission at University of Massachusetts - Boston, prospective students can apply online or download the application form. UMass Boston does not follow open admission policy. Freshmen students are required to submit high school transcript, SAT-I or ACT scores, an Academic Recommendation Letter from a school-based counselor and/or teacher with the completed application form. For the no English speaking students, Verification of English language proficiency is required.

    Accommodation facilities:

    University of Massachusetts - Boston is a commuter university and no campus housing facilities are available here. But full assistance is offered to the students who need accommodation facilities near the campus. The Office of Student Housing (OSH) facilitates the students to find housing in the Boston area.
